In this article I want to talk about the difference between a "Competition" and a "Companion" dog. My goal is to explain why it is important to understand what the difference really is. The idea behind the distinction is that we can train our dogs in many ways while still keeping them a "competition". There are some things you need to keep in mind when doing this, however. This article will hopefully help make the difference easier to understand.
The first and most basic question you should ask yourself is whether you want a "Competition" dog or a "companion". This will be based on your specific reasons for training. If you do plan on breeding the dog you are trying to train, you can be sure that you are going to be using a "Competition" dog.
Now, lets get into some of the basic differences between these two types of dogs. Both "Competitions"Companions" are considered "competitive". You will find that most people will use the terms interchangeably. They are both competitive in that they want to win at the dog training games you are running with them.
Now we are getting to the more important parts of these basic differences. A "Competition" dog will be very focused on winning. They will have a much smaller target of people to train and will focus on the dog games they participate in. This does not mean that their dog will not be interested in learning but it does mean that they are going to have a much lower success rate in their competitions.
A "Companion" dog will typically have an idea of how to win at dog training, but they do not have a very focused goal. These dogs are usually used to the idea of being with humans as a companion rather than as a competitor.
In general, the biggest difference between a "Competition" and a "Companion" dog is that a "Competitor" will be more focused on winning and not on being good at the dog training games. The goal is generally to have a large group of people and dogs at the dog training games so that the dog can practice its skills in a controlled environment. While the goal of a "Companion" dog is to just have fun and meet new friends.
A lot of this comes down to preference. Some people are really good at competing and want to use their dog to compete. Others just want to be with their dogs and do what they want. Some dogs will even compete in the same dog games as their owners!
As you can see, there are some pretty clear differences between a "Competition" and a "Companion. " If you are looking for a dog to play a game with that is going to work both ways, there are some dogs out there that are actually more geared toward being a competitor than someone who just wants to hang out with their dog.
